Research Interests:
My laboratory is interested in the studying transcriptional regulation events during the pathogenesis of tuberculosis. We are employing the rhesus macaque model of tuberculosis to study the phenotype of sigma factor deficient mutants of M. tuberculosis . In addition we are also interested in identifying M. tuberculosis genes essential for survival in-vivo in the macaque model. We are also studying the regulation of M. tuberculosis ClpP proteolytic complex. We believe that the Clp proteolytic pathway is responsible for specific and targeted degradation of certain M. tuberculosis proteins and plays a role in augmentation of latency.
The laboratory also serves as the institutional DNA Microarray Core. We process spotted (2-color) microarrays, as well as perform high-dimension data-analysis from both spotted as well as 1-color (Affymetrix) microarrays.
